Milo, our first-born, smart, athletic, silly, sensitive boy with a fiery temper, is 8 years old today! I remember his birth like it was yesterday, an amazing, whirlwind of an event with an intensity I couldn’t possibly have been prepared for. And how he has grown over the past 8 years! He knows about a billion animal facts, how to climb just about anything, and does not hesitate during new experiences. He refuses a hair cut, insisting that his friends like his “crazy hair,” and so does he.
He is level-headed and kind and talkative, and pushes himself in all he does… as my mom would say, he’s a real go-getter! We are all so proud of him and just love him so very very much. 
For his birthday portraits, Milo insisted on goofy all the way, which I’m learning is what 7 and 8-year-olds do best. He is constantly laughing, tricking, joking, and giggling about something these days. His laughter is contagious, his jokes corny. 
Here, I interviewed him the night before his 8th birthday to record some of his favorite things and thoughts about the future.
How does it feel to be 8? Awesome!!!
What is the best present you received? I love it all! Bop-it, or this book, or the legos… I can’t decide.
What is your favorite color? Purple
Favorite book (or series)? I love the Harry Potter series. I’m already on book 6!
What is your favorite food? Broccoli!
What are three goals you have for this coming year? To jump from one globe to another (a circus trick); to stop wiping my hands on my shirt; and to do more work at school.
What do you want to be when you grow up? An inventor. And a scientist.
