I find it really difficult to find cool local stores that carry interesting and good quality men’s clothing in St. Louis. That’s why I was positively giddy to stumble upon East + West in Kirkwood, MO. I went in looking for a birthday present for Andrew and ended up in a half-hour conversation with Brian, one of the co-owners (he and his wife Lauren run the shop). He was one of the most helpful, engaging, and passionate shop owners I’ve met in St. Louis, and it was clear that he fully believes in the products they carry. I knew I had to come back to feature their shop, so I brought Andrew along!
East + West carries many labels that are local or at least made in the U.S., and for those labels that are not local, the sourcing and fair trade practices are important to this couple. A few labels I love in men’s clothing are right here! The Hill-Side, a Brooklyn, NY-based brand by brothers Emil and Sandy Corsillo, is hand-crafted in the U.S. using high-quality fabrics such as canvas, selvedge denim, and chambray, mostly sourced from Japan. I love their ties, bow ties, and even shoes! Such great, interesting stuff.
