Soul Apples

Some days are just downright good for the soul. Some days you dream about for a whole two weeks and hope that they turn out well. That the weather holds out, that friends are able to keep plans, that little boys and girls stay well, that the orchard you choose is not too busy, not too commercial, not too… anything.

When those days come, sometimes all the things you dream about don’t work out. And sometimes they do. Other times, like today, those days surpass your expectations and there you have the soul stuff.

And I realize that yes, Andrew picked a great orchard. Perfect, even. But it was the people who shared our company who made the day.

And the apples weren’t too shabby either.

Good-bye.

  1. We were in Rockford, IL for an Andre family wedding and I can’t tell you how close we came to dropping in on St. Louis to see you all. Soon, we hope!

  2. I’m going to eat that little Oliver when I get there. One cheek at a time. He reminds me that we need to have another.

  3. Your pictures are AWESOME. (As usual.) Where did you guys go? Millstadt? We did Eckert’s at Belleville this year and it was very crowded and felt like an amusement park. The apples were still yummy, though.

  4. Erin, we went to Centennial Farms, a little drive past Chesterfield. It was soooo nice! Not crowded at all, and there were fun things for the kids to do too. It was definitely more of a small-scale operation. Highly recommend.

  5. Did Milo jump off of that top bail of hay??? He’s fearless!
That last photo of Oliver is to die for!!!!!!! I could eat him.
