A truly incredible weekend! After a lot of hard work getting our house ready for a big faculty barbecue, we woke up Saturday morning to drastically cooler (and rainy) weather. Knowing we could not feasibly fit 30 adults inside our house, we scrambled and hoped for the gray skies to pass… and they did, just in time! About two hours before the crowds poured in, sunny skies burst forth and we were greeted with cool, beautiful weather. The get-together was a great success and we went to bed way too late Saturday night.
On Sunday we slept a bit later than usual and awoke to amazing weather. A cool breeze flowed through our open windows and the boys crawled into our bed for a bit before we walked to a long and lazy breakfast. Then we headed out to the City Museum (all of us together there for the first time in years) to celebrate Milo’s birthday. We had told him, since he had spent his special day in school and had a bit of a rushed dinner before Andrew and I had to head out to trapeze class, that Sunday would be his special day and we would take him wherever he wanted to go. Naturally, he chose this place (I was probably as excited about it as he was!).
Emil is finally old enough to enjoy a lot of this place. He is cautious of the things he should be cautious of, but still brave enough to fly down slides and explore dark tunnels. He enjoyed peering out off the edge of the 10 story building through the windshield of the school bus perched atop. I, however, could only muster a few seconds before feeling a bit of panic set in! It’s pretty scary!
Milo getting a stern talking to…
… And scurrying through tunnels with a newly-brave Oliver.
And this photo above pretty much sums up the weekend for Andrew. On Friday evening, while playing with Milo at the playground, Andrew got clocked by the back of Milo’s head (who was in full speed mid-flip) smack in the nose. Let’s just say there was a lot of blood and most likely a concussion and a broken nose… but he powered through the whole weekend like a champ and looked on the bright side “Hey! My glasses stay up a lot easier now!”
I have to say, this place is just incredible and easily tops our favorite places. It truly never disappoints. Now for a full week of school, dentist appointments, and writing assignments! I hope you had a lovely weekend!
This place looks amazing. Happy birthday, Milo!
I dig the wings, Oliver. And I very envious of the City Museum. Perhaps a summer trip.
Over the weekend, my friend was telling me about planning a trip to St. Louis. I immediately pulled up your photos of City Museum and said “You MUST go here!” And then sent her these yesterday. Your photos are beautiful and make me want to plan my own trip. What a great way to spend the day.
I see you went to the magic show. (Everyone moving in slow motion!) We think that guy is hilarious!
