On a bright and sunny day, Oliver wanted to trace shadows. This time he built structures nice and early in the morning, when the shadows are long, then he traced them. He made some pretty cool things!
We left the structures in the same position all day and enjoyed checking on them to see how the shadows changed with the sun. A very fun activity!
We did something similar with sunprint paper – instead of laying something directly on top, we cast shadows across the paper in much the same way. You can’t leave them out all day (of course), but it’s pretty cool to take objects and stretch and shape them with the angle of the sun.
What a great idea! Lauren, I love your blog, and as my son gets older and more ready to engage in structured activities, I look forward to taking up some of your ideas. Thank you for being such a wonderful inspiration to a mother on the other side of the globe!
