So many apple blossoms this year- hoping that means as many apples in a couple of months! The summer two years ago was chock full of them!
This weekend was such a good one. We had a lot of ups and downs last week, but by Friday we finally seemed to figure it out and move forward. Family dynamics can be so complicated, really! Friday afternoon we spent with friends eating pizza and doing a bit of gardening. Now that all of our seeds and seedlings are finally in the ground, it truly feels like spring!
The rest of the weekend we had some serious family time and followed no schedule at all, which is exactly what we needed. Lots of games of Uno and swinging from the back tree swing, lots of lying around on a blanket in the back yard between bouts of yard work and cleaning, and a few trips to the playground to enjoy the beautiful weather. We also did a good deal of walking, which I have been missing since I’ve had to rest so much. I made it out alive and well, but I am still not 100 percent there yet. Getting there, getting there, every day closer, I remind myself.
We also worked on the little play area near the very back of our yard behind our vegetable garden, adding a stump walk and rope for an old cleaned-out paint bucket to slide along. The boys already have a dug-out sandbox and small climber back there, so they spend plenty of time pretending all sorts of things. Oliver and Emil were pretending that the stump walk was a bridge above crocodile-infested waters. Milo and I also planted mammoth sunflower seeds back along the fence. I sure hope they grow! Hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
The play nook looks so awesome! We are in the process of planning something similar for our boys as well. I am a bit envious that you can already plant things in the ground, our nights are still to cold and the chance of frost in the morning is still very real around these parts. I hope you have a great week!
Yay, Knight family! I learn so much about how to raise boys from you. Its incredibly helpful. We had a bout of early Spring Knight luck on Sunday and were so unbelievably tired. Perhaps a kid infested BBQ is in order in a couple of weeks?
What a cool idea, that stump walk! I’ll have to squirrel that away for when my girls are bigger. Can’t wait to see your garden’a progress; you guys are so inspiring on that front. So glad you’re feeling good and taking walks and getting to enjoy spring!
what a fun backyard! makes me wish i had one even more now 🙂
That play area is so great, I bet they are going to be very busy there this summer. We had a similarly great weekend (although without the good weather or as much productivity). Always much easier to tackle Monday after a fun couple days.
Halloween costume idea: Emil as Tom Sawyer.
