Sand play. In this case, the sand is mixed with a polymer, making it stick to itself: far less messy than regular dry sand. Plus, we can leave it out on the shelf and it doesn’t dry out. All three have been playing with it a lot since we’ve been indoors so much. It’s so interesting to watch them play with it at the same time, but in such different ways.
Found sand and tray here (I would also love to get these molds for them eventually).
What a great idea. Our Montessori school just expanded and I’ve been thinking about doing the teacher training. I selfishly want to be the pied piper of children who play with sand. Seeing that I have no children of my own at this point perhaps I’ll have to start trying out Montessori methods on the goats and chickens.
I love the blue of your walls!
Yes, Marian, I think you should go for it! Such a wonderful job, I’m sure!
And the paint color is Martha Stewart’s Home Depot series: Darkening Skies. I love it!
My girls could play with sand all day – I’ve been considering purchasing some of this. I think I’ll tuck the idea away for birthdays.
Here’s to warmer weather (finally) and real, outdoor sandboxes soon!
They have this at W’s preschool and it’s such cool stuff. The day I was there, the kids kept saying it was ‘wet sand’… only problem is that they also kept throwing it on the floor and since it’s a school they’re required to throw it out at that point. The waste! 🙂
Oh, I love this! I’m looking into this right away. Play dough has me pulling my hair out!
