That’s me on the trapeze in all black. That’s me!!!
I have never been too keen on the whole New Year’s resolution thing. But that does not mean I completely ignore the feelings of newness that January brings. So while it is less specific than a list of resolutions, I have vowed to do more of what makes me happy this year. That’s all!
What makes me happiest has stayed pretty consistent over my lifetime. Spending time with good friends who are positive and make me laugh hard, getting my hands dirty in the garden, pushing my body physically (something I have just recently gotten back into, and it has made a world of difference. Trapeze class does make me truly happy!), and reading out loud to my kids. Carving out time to do things that make you happy makes you the best version of yourself, I think. And that’s always something to strive for!
Lauren, first, you look amazing hanging up there. Second, I think I’m going to go mediate on what makes me happy and spend the weekend doing those things- dancing to records with my kids, walks along the water, and vodka mixed with something delicious while hanging with friends or family are all pretty high up there on my list.
You are beautiful – and you make me very happy.
I love you!
Mom
Well the look on your face here pretty much says it all. Definitely feeling inspired to go on some happiness-making adventures now!
Wow you look fantastic! I actually like resolutions, just an opportunity to refocus. I think it comes from having spent entirely too long in school and getting used to a clean slate each semester, but a fresh start is always welcome.
Making yourself even happier in 2014 is a perfect goal, more of that! I sure do wish I had the energy to hang sideways like that 🙂
This is, by far, the most inspirational blog post I’ve seen anywhere in a long time. I’ve been grappling with my own version of “pale blue dot” syndrome myself these few months and I recentered myself just after Christmas. While I couldn’t put my finger on what exactly had changed – this – this puts it to paper for me. Having the self-respect to have my time earned, to not sweat the small stuff and to give in to what makes me happy and do more of that. Also, Rachel, your list is pretty boss. Love it!
Lauren, you are clearly a natural dancer! Lookin good.
Looks so fun, Lauren!! Congrats for sticking with it! And you look rocking’ in that leotard!
You just look so cool up there! Fab fab fab!
P.S. Mina went to Montessori preschool when we lived in NJ. I still send her teachers Christmas cards. Those lessons were amazing. Wish montessori school in our current area didn’t equate three times as much as other preschools.
So awesome!!
You look awesome! Yes to happiness, this, and every future year. I love that in your thirties it’s so much easier to narrow down what it is that really floats your boat.
That looks like tons of fun, and actually going out to DO something that makes you happy, so satisfying!
Hi! (found you via cupofjo)
This looks like so much fun! You look amazing. I wish there was something like this near me locally!
This looks and sounds amazing. Great post. I agree with you entirely when you said, “Carving out time to do things that make you happy makes you the best version of yourself, I think.” So true.
