Dress That Kid: Thrifted

DSC_0021

It sure has been a long time since I’ve posted a Dress That Kid… and luckily today Emil was more than happy to pose for the camera. He insists on wearing that hat inside and out until he has had enough and tosses it into the air with the enthusiasm only a two-year-old can muster. Andrew brought the hat back from Peru years ago when we only had Milo. It has made it through three little boys and we get mad compliments on it. And don’t worry, I’ve found that they are sold all over the U.S. I’ve seen them in farmer’s markets in D.C. and St. Louis, and also online here.

As for the rest of what Emil is wearing, it is all thrifted or found at a consignment store! I make it a habit to check Goodwill or Purple Cow before buying new for these boys. It’s a long shot, but when I find great stuff (above the shirt is Janie & Jack, $3, pants Children’s Place $2, shoes Ecco for $8) it is always a great day! DSC_0025

We are spending the day “cooking” in Emil’s play kitchen, folding laundry, putting together puzzles, and getting ready for our friends to come over for dinner tonight. There will be spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad, and these brownies to eat. There will be fun presents to give and a warm fire to sit next to. I really do love this time of year!

  1. Enjoy those brownies! And your boy is looking very cute. We do things similarly around here. Almost everything Iz wears is either a gift, from a thrift store, a hand-me-down or from a consignment shop. Even when I buy new (very very rare) it’s usually only sale or super clearance priced items. I’ve never been to Purple Cow but the store I go to nursing Mom’s group at is a consignment shop and can have some good finds. It’s called Kangaroo Kids and is off of Manchester. Don’t know if you’ve been before, but if not you might want to check it out sometime, who knows what could be hiding there for your sweet boys. 🙂

  2. Great denim shirt, love these photos. I was trying to search on your blog for what camera you use. They always come out with such wonderful quality.
