Happy Friday

DSC_0027Missing Andrew already since he left yesterday for another long weekend of travel… these past few months of travel have been hard, but hopefully will be over soon. The life we are used to leading- one of slow weekends, lingering moments with the kids and each other, long walks to nowhere, and playing music while the kids dance through the living room, spilling out through the open back door into our wild yard… that life has been a bit disrupted as of late, but we can see it just round the corner, waiting patiently for us to return to it. And return to it we will, with open arms!

October is just around the corner… a month we always find full of fun and change. We have visitors coming, two concerts (Sigur Ros & Lucius), apple-picking plans with friends, pumpkin patches awaiting, and of course all of the other moments that we fill with good food, inspired by the harvest season- the season of roasted root vegetables, slow-simmering stews, pumpkin breads, fresh-grilled trout with plenty of lemon, and an abundance of kale and swiss chard from our fall garden.

This weekend I will savor with my boys. We will walk, play, read, harvest, and make. The house, full of bits of leaves and dirt and dog hair, will stay just as it is. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I absolutely hate when my hubby has to travel in work, it just doesn´t feel the same at home and I sleep worse. However; sometimes it has to be done and I survive. 🙂
