I’m alone with a very fussy infant and a very mischeivous two-year-old. Until Thursday night.
Any advice (specifically, how in tarnation do you feed/bath/read stories to/ wipe bottom of/chase/brush teeth/put in pajamas/then put to bed a toddler when you have a baby who screams whenever you put him down)? I’d like to avoid what happened tonight… they are both alive, but it was a close call.
I have some advice:
(1) Spank the smaller one.
(2) Make the bigger one watch #1
(3) Threaten the bigger one with #1
You’ll just have to put Oliver in a safe place and let him cry while you’re taking care of Milo. It will be very hard, but Oliver may just have to cry himself to sleep when you have to care for Milo. He has to be put down at some point! When you read to Milo, Oliver can be there, too, nursing – does that work out? Would he fall asleep in a baby swing swaddled in baby blankets (with you close by)?
Of course, there’s always a cosmopolitan…..
Wish I were there to help….. One good thing is, you know this won’t last forever!
Well, let us know if we can do anything!!! Strap Oliver on your side with the baby carrier and hope he falls asleep while reading, changing, chasing Milo? Good luck!
I say if everyone is still alive by the end of the day it was a great success!! Hang in there!!!
It is okay if Oliver cries 15 or 20 minutes while you are busy, as long as you know he is safe and fed. I agree with your Mom, swings are a great invention. If it is any consolation, think about Mom’s with twins or triplets.
You had a baby at home, you can do it!
And this is why man invented beer and beatings. I suggest Andrew’s advice except adding a 12oz curl in between each of his steps.
The last commenter must be some sort of a genius. It’s just that simple: genius.
