Happy Friday

DSC_0026

This week was so exhausting, but in the best way exhausting can be. I am happiest in mild weather with the sunshine coming down, surrounded by my boys outdoors. And that’s mostly what the past week held, save for a missing partner who is coming home today, just in time for the weekend. But at night, as soon as I put those rascals to bed, I immediately got to work on the kitchen. It’s coming along, slowly but surely. And perhaps the best part about the slowness of it is that I can take time to reflect on the best way to change it rather than rushing into something just to get it done.

Next week we have all sorts of family coming into town for Andrew’s grandmother’s funeral. It will be a celebration of life, and surely a lot of craziness with somewhere around 14 children under the age of 9… half of whom will be in our house! I’m so excited to host and even more excited to see everyone, share memories, and play with cousins who we don’t get to see as often as we’d like.

But this weekend… we are going to chill out and maybe hit the farmer’s market on Saturday if it doesn’t storm all morning! The calm before the storm! Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. a) Milo looks to be about 6 feet tall in this picture.

    b) Your kitchen project is awesome and inspiring. We’re painting our kitchen this summer and it’s so awesome to see such a huge transformation with a few cans of paint.

    c) I’m sorry for your loss. I hope your time with your extended family is nice, and that the reflection of Andrew’s grandmother’s life brings comfort to you all.

  2. Thank you for your kind words, Allison. It is sad that we kind of wait until a funeral before everyone gets together to this extent, but on the other hand, the excitement of seeing everyone all in one place makes it easier to celebrate her life and surely that’s what it’s all about!

Jamie- we are hoping to see you guys at some point during the weekend! 🙂

  3. Wow, hosting lots of guests with your kitchen torn apart is very ambitious! But you sound calm about it all, hopefully you guys have a wonderful time and do lots of catching up. Enjoy a little relaxation this weekend.

  4. Oh, Lilly! There is no calm around here. I am trying to bust my you-know-what to finish the kitchen before people come in. I’m not sure it will be done, but I’ll give it my best!

  5. I am sorry to hear about your family’s loss. I hope the time with family is healing and as you said, a celebration of life.

Can’t wait to see the after pictures for the kitchen! (Mina marches in a parade on Monday. She is making her poster as I type.)
