The First 5 Days

Tomorrow, our little Oliver will already be one week old. We have all been adjusting well to family-of-four-hood, and I honestly can’t imagine not having this little peanut now. He is slowly switching his nocturnal schedule into a more reasonable wakefulness during the day (thank goodness!), and this morning has already stayed awake for his longest stretch yet. We have had two pediatrician appointments, which confirmed that Oliver has lost no weight since birth (making up for lost time, I guess!) and that he is healthy and normal. He is a much better nurser than Milo was at the beginning (which I’m sure has something to do with my own experience), and not spitting up nearly as much. It makes things so much easier when you have a good eater! Other than that, there’s not much to report. We are all trying to rest and enjoy each other. Andrew has taken the next week off of work and is really bonding with Milo, who now accepts snuggles from someone other than his mommy. It’s awesome to see their relationship grow stronger. Milo is still adjusting well, but he is definitely pushing the boundaries at times. He also feels a little sad sometimes, as he relayed to Andrew while they drove somewhere together. But he sure does love his baby brother!

Look at that fat belly

Yesterday we got pummelled with gifts and well-wishes from family and friends. It was a present frenzy! Milo was thrilled to help open all the gifts and cards. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Cat and Garriy, we have devoured pretty much all of the feast you brought us. That got us through an entire week! You two are the best! And a big thank you to my mom, who traveled out to us from Ohio to cook, clean, do laundry, help watch Milo, and make our first week so much easier. Thanks, Mom, and have a safe trip home!

  1. So sweet, I love the furrowed brow! I’m glad the week has gone so well. Poor Milo, it is an adjustment and Reina is still working on getting used to Liam, but they DO love each other, too. I’m sure both you and Andrew will be great at giving each of your boys special time.

Also, it looks like I may be including some pants for Milo when I send your gift…
