As promised, this weekend was full of plans and fun and ridiculousness, as well as a lot of work (mostly in the garden– but more on that tomorrow). We walked to Washington University for their annual Thurteen Carnival (see last year’s pictures here, and the year before here). The weather was beautiful, sunny, and cool, and we ran into plenty of friends (who turned out to be much more courageous than me when it came to riding those rides!).
Oliver ran into his soulmate, Estella, and no, I do not use that word lightly. Those two are crazy in love.
We also shared the traditional funnel cake, covered in powdered sugar and grimy hands. It was gone in less than 2 minutes. I timed us.
Emil’s first ride! He loved it.
Poop ^
The rest of the weekend was solid. We rested Saturday afternoon, then put the boys to bed early so that we could go out with some friends to see Josh Ritter play (here are a few of my favorite songs) and stayed out way past our bedtime getting into all sorts of mischief. It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time, and laughed so hard my sides hurt yesterday. Not like this:
That’s better.
Have I mentioned that Emil is a complete papa’s boy? It’s all Papa this and Papa that all day long with that one.
But onto the fun! We nabbed this picture on our way into the show:
And did not take any after shots because we were too… um… silly to do so. There may have been a serious ping-pong game using our hands instead of paddles. Which, if you were wondering, is strangely effective and hilarious.
Milo got a new magnetic body puzzle which is absolutely amazing and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Find one here if you’re interested! (Plus, you can hang it on the wall. It’s so cool.)
And just one last shot from our weekend, when the boys had gathered all of the red items they could find and placed them on the step as an offering to the monster they heard upstairs (who only drinks blood: and having no blood to offer, they thought he would be happy with red things). Those boys.
Hope you had a great weekend. Man, life is good.
P.S.- Today Andrew and I celebrate 6 years of marriage! I couldn’t be a luckier gal. Love you, darlin’!
Happy Anniversary, Lauren and Andrew!!!!! May you have many, many more!
Happy Anniversary! Look at all the joy you’ve grown for yourselves since that flowery day!
Happy Anniversary to one of my favorite couples!
Geez Louise, that puzzle is one of the coolest things ever. Also, much more importantly, happy anniversary!
Oliver & Estella are too cute for words.
Happy anniversary!!
Happy Anniversary! Fun! I Whee! can feel the fun from these shots ♡
Happy anniversary, Lauren and Andrew. You 2 are a great couple! Miss you so much
Happy anniversary, how lucky that you got to see Josh Ritter! Change of Time was my wedding song.
That Oliver’s style and confidence to pull it off is some kind of amazing! Love the monster in the carrier. 🙂
Happy anniversary! Y’all have been a whole lot more productive than my hubs and I have been over the past six years!
Such a happy and full weekend!! I love the puzzle, too. Added to Gus’s wishlist (he’ll thank me later). HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, LOVEBIRDS!
Happy HAPPY Anniversary!!!!! Look at what your love has created! Three of the MOST beautiful boys, and such a sweet family!
Happy Anniversary! It looks like you guys had such a fun celebratory week-end, and hopefully you can top it off with some more anniversary fun today.
a) Happy Anniversary and high five to you both.
b) You are so pretty you should charge admission for people to look at your pictures.
c) In that first picture, Milo appears to be holding the world’s smallest, yet most powerful helium balloon.
d) Oliver looks like a badass on that bike with those dino pants. Too cool.
e) The poop picture made me laugh so hard, because of course. I’m 12.
Ha, ha! Thank you, Allison! And the funny thing is, I thought the very same thing about Milo and that lolly- I had to think really hard about what that balloon-looking thing was before remembering he was in the midst of finishing it off.
Also, the poop thing. So funny. Oliver was staring it down like it was going to come after him!
And Mary, your comment brought tears to my eyes. It has been SUCH a good six years.
