This weekend was so full of joy and laughter and I was completely filled to the brim with gratefulness for so many things in my life. Coming off of a wonderful night out with my friend Ingrid, we made a pact to get our families together soon… and soon ended up being this weekend! Saturday morning was spent by a warm and toasty fire, playing and building and reading with the kids before we headed over to Ingrid and Brent’s house for the afternoon and evening.
I know I’ve talked about them before on the blog, but I really must reiterate that these two have made life in St. Louis exponentially better for us. They are the sweetest, funniest, most endearing people you will ever meet and we always leave gushing about our friends and how much we truly love them. Their kids too!
We left later than we should have, but earlier than anyone wanted, as usual, talking of dreams of the future, going on a family vacation together so the night doesn’t have to end, as we swept our crew out into the cold night, not a snowflake in the air…
I awoke to a brightness that I figured was just my lazy sleeping-in birthday sunshine, but it was a good deal of beautiful snow covering everything! The weekend just kept getting better and better. After a slow shower (where I actually shaved both legs) I rallied the troops to get suited up for a walk to breakfast down the road. The snow made us all giddy… there’s just nothing better!
Emil was oohing and aahing from his carrier on my back while Milo and Oliver hitched a ride on the sled (a wonderful gift from Andrew’s stepmom Gerlyn a few years ago). Our laughter echoed through the trees and the kids’ squeals of joy filled me with happiness and love. I wondered if everyone has this much fun with their kids. We enjoy them so very very much!
My heart is so full. Here’s to 33: the best year yet.
This weekend looked wonderful and so full of love. The beauty comes through in the photos. So glad you had a great birthday, Lauren. You make the world a much better place.
Love, Mom
Happy Belated Lauren! It looks like a warm and magical weekend. I admit to gasping when I saw the little kids slinging around that purple doll…I thought it was a real baby.
Glad you had such a wonderful birthday weekend, Lauren!
Happy birthday, Lauren! I have fond memories of 33 — it was a good year! Hope yours will be, too!
Happy Birthday Lauren! That kitchen is fabulous! Those cabinets are stunning.
Happy birthday! Looks wonderful, that snowy breakfast out is just perfect and your friends look like fun. I totally had to do a double take of Andrew holding that baby… I did think it was real at first glance but slightly creepy 🙂
Happiest of Birthdays to you, Lauren!!! I’m sure this will be your best year yet 🙂 You already started it off with a seriously perfect birthday weekend – so glad it was all you could have hoped for!
Happy Birthday! May this be the best year yet!!! In a few months I’ll turn 33 and I hope to feel the same joy on my birthday 🙂

So glad you had a nice birthday weekend with family and friends!
Happy birthday! (Said in my very best Frosty the Snowman voice.) I’m glad you had a fabulous weekend. Thirty-three is your year.
I’m so happy you had such a wonderful birthday, you young thing! 🙂 Each year I enjoy my 30’s more. It makes the world of difference having good friends to share these occasions with. And that breakfast place looks so great!
Here’s to shaving both legs at once!

Happy happy birthday — may the year be filled with more beauty, love, and laughter than your last.
What a second here.. I commented this morning but I guess it didn’t go through! Glad I came back. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You deserve it and all the snow in the world. xo
Happy, happy birthday, Lauren! Your joy and love are translated through these photos. Wishing you another beautiful and joyful year!
Happy belated birthday to you! How wonderful to spend it with such a sweet family and such great friends, a wonderful gift all it’s own.
What a lovely birthday weekend spent with your favorite peeps! I am glad it was so happy for you.
A few comments:
a) When I noticed the baby Andrew is holding in the picture is a doll, I laughed and was creeped out by it at the same time. Why are dolls so creepy?!
b) Their house is amazing and once again confirms my theory that you are, and hang out with, the most stylish people.
c) Emil’s moustache is truly fantastic. He’s like a tiny Tom Selleck. So suave.
