A couple days ago, I decided to surprise Milo and Oliver with some simple holiday cheer. So… while they were at preschool, I set up a mini Christmas tree in their room.
I did have a little helper, of course.
They were so excited when they saw it, but even more excited that night when they realized they would be allowed to keep it on in their room when it was dark outside… it still makes me smile just thinking about it.
Are you getting into the holiday spirit yet? Yes, it is still technically November, but I couldn’t resist!
where did you find such an adorable petite tree? i love it! and, i remember when i was a kid, the excitement of being allowed to sleep with the twinkle lights on. so fun…i may just up and steal your idea π
and p.s. i think you could totes rock the punk rock look. go with it. just remember, tattoos are even more permanent than hair dye.
Such a cute little tree. I used to get going on Christmas super early, but lately I put it off later and later. It is always fun to see those lights shining though, and I would have loved that tiny tree in my room as a kid.
And you take the cake is Super Mom once again. You are wonderful and I’m sure your boys will look back on these days with such joy when they are parents themselves (in many many many years of course). π
We got started on the Christmas decorating early this year. I just love this time of year, so I tend to make it last as long as possible. Maybe next year I’ll put a little tree in the girls’ room. They would love it.
Awesome! We get our big tree a day or two before Christmas, but are now that the kids are a bit bigger we were thinking about getting them a tree in early December that they can decorate and keep in their playroom.
That is such a great idea that I’m going to do it! Even if it’s just a little rosemary plant. The boys would LOVE their very own tree.
p.s. Mentioned Crumb Bums on my blog – thanks for the continuing inspiration! π

Whitney- we got the mini tree at Whole Foods for $25 and it comes with its own little stand that you put water in (just like the big trees!) so it won’t dry out. We had one last year in the kids’ playroom and it was so cozy and great.
And Cortnie- thank you for the shout-out on your blog! You are so sweet!
So cute! Oh yeah, we’re decorating already. We’ve got lights up in the playroom and they’re a big hit. We’re getting the tree saturday – my little guy may just die of happiness π
The love the idea of having a little tree just for the kids! I am in full holiday mode and loving every bit of it!
well if that’s not the cutest tree. my boy love their (fake) mini tree too. it’s what I allow them to decorate themselves, anyway they please, so it works out nice.
Happy to see you share the same tradition.
what a great idea! my mother bought me a small fake tree for my bedroom when i was younger. i packed it up with me and took it to college. and now, it’s my little family’s tree! which is fine, bc it’s all our tiny house could handle.
Dude. You were my inspirado and I totally got tiny trees from Trader Joe’s yesterday to put in my kids’ rooms.
