Dress That Mama: My Favorite Jeans

I was totally on the fence about the whole legging-jean thing (I refuse to call them “jeggings,” sorry). But do you know how comfortable they are? Do you?!! Very. Must be the whole stretchy-jean thing that makes them softer than usual and less likely to offend my delicate senses (kidding!). And yeah. I got the other pair of shoes I’ve been pining over after selling some more stuff I didn’t need anyway. So, no more clothing or shoe purchases for a while, but I don’t need anything anyway, so I’m happy!

Coat: Anthropologie (last year’s end-of-season sale); striped tee: Pure + Good (find here); legging jeans: AG (similar)

Clogs: Rachel Comey (my all-time favorite shoe and boot designer)- but I scored them at Saks (a store I never go into) for $100 cheaper!

And in case you were wondering, YES, the bags under my eyes are an essential part of any outfit these days. I think they convey a sort of Je-ne-sais-quoi. Don’t you?

  1. I love the shoes and your coat! So. I had a pair of jeggings last year (I think?) and this post made me realize I have no idea what happened to them.. I think that’s a sign to simplify my closet, yes? I think I should add that I recently added some pants to my wardrobe that don’t have a button or a zipper or anything to them. They’re maternity pants for the non-maternity woman. Pull on pants. I love them.

  2. Your outfits make me feel like such a frumpy lump!! I’m sure I could find something cute in my closet and look put-together, but my uniform of sweats and hoodies when I’m hanging around the house is just so much easier …

  3. The shoes! I have been coveting those since you put them on Pinterest, you are looking quite lovely in them and making my current choice of scuffed clogs even more of a bummer. There needs to be some kind of show (probably boot) in my future. I’ve never worm ‘jeggings’. It took me until about a year ago to embrace skinny jeans so I’m slowly working up to it ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love the look, but my problem with stretch jeans is that I can never get the sizing right. If they fit in the store, they’re sure to be saggy a couple hours after I buy them. Washing restores them, but I’ll have the same problem after a few hours of wear.

So how do you buy stretch jeans so they fit right? Must they be uncomfortable skin-tight when you try them on?

  5. I love this whole look! That coat is just gorgeous and I’m going to have to check out the Rachel Comey boots. It’s been a little while since I’ve dropped in, but I love the new blog design too ๐Ÿ™‚ Did you design it yourself?

  6. Lilly– I highly recommend them! There was virtually no breaking-in period because the leather is so soft, and they are very comfortable b/c the actual heel is not too high since it is a platform.

Ann– I just buy in my regular size, and I guess they do feel pretty tight at first, but I haven’t had any issues with stretching with AG legging jeans. I think you have to find a brand that works for your body type and this is definitely my most comfortable pair of pants (other than sweatpants, of course).

Christi– thank you! And yes, I did design it myself!

  7. These jeans are fine, but nothing beats a high-riding pair of MOM JEANS. Nothing accentuates the fupa better than some good mom jeans. Too bad you dont have either,

  8. I was on the fence, too, until my MIL brought my daughter home from a playdate dressed in them. Isobel is so picky about pants, but she loved these! I thought, well, if my three year old thinks they are comfy, I might as well take the plunge.

  9. I love this entire outfit! I need some new jeans, but have been wondering where to turn (also love legging-jeans, btw. Because they love my butt. Win to the win). I have a $50 Macy’s gift card burning a hole in my wallet, not that that’ll get me far on the jeans front… Anyway, kudos on the sophisticated cuteness factor, mama. Lookin’ good. And tired eyes are the new black. Sleep dep chic.
