Belly Pictures and Bum Behind Bars

This weekend brought beautiful weather, a “surprise” dinner (to celebrate Andrew’s dissertation defense going successfully- unfortunately he guessed the surprise before we even walked into the restaurant), a Capitol Hill garden party with to-die-for food, lots of yard work, and of course, more pictures courtesy of Garriy. I think he is starting to feel sorry for us for our lack of documentation of the Bum’s life as well as NewBaby’s existence. I was telling Andrew that the new little guy was going to think he was adopted because there were literally no pictures of me pregnant with him. But now there are. Along with some incriminating mug shots of Milo.

And don’t be fooled by these belly shots. I look MUCH bigger in person.
Milo has become fascinated with my belly and his “baby brudder” inside. He has felt baby kick several times now, and likes to kiss my belly, point to it, and say “baby brudder, mommy’s utewus.” He also occasionally talks to baby, gives my belly a squeeze, and says “Big HUG!” He also calls his baby brother “Baby Noah” for some reason. We know a baby named Noah- my friend Mary’s sister has an infant named Noah who Milo has met twice, but he has met lots of babies so I don’t get the connection. And no, we won’t be naming NewBaby Noah. Although I really like the name, it definitely does not fit with our last name.

We are all really enjoying family time on the weekends now. It’s amazing how much different our lives are now that Andrew’s dissertation is finished. Spending more time together, especially before the baby comes in… eeek!…. only 3 months, is the most wonderful gift. I feel so fortunate to be living this life! Saturdays are great for me. Andrew takes Milo in the morning so I can sleep in, then I go to my prenatal yoga class while Andrew and Milo have “Daddy Day.” They have gone on so many adventures together during this time and Milo talks about these outings all week long. After my prenatal class, I pick them up at the metro or meet them at home, where Milo is usually eating lunch and looking loopey from exhaustion. He always takes 3-hour naps after Andrew wears him out, during which time I can eat lunch, spend time with Andrew, and partake in one of my favorite activities- gardening! Who knew weekends could be so much fun?

  1. You look beautiful! I am so glad that you are enjoying every moment of it! It’s wonderful isn’t it?

  2. You brought all the food to our place, so no wonder it was good! Plus, don’t try and kid us, cameras only add on pounds, so truly you are one svelte-looking mama.

Can’t wait to see you guys and Milo, who I’m totally smitten with, very soon.

  3. You are really beautiful, Lauren! Full of grace! I can’t wait to visit you, the DOCTOR, and Milo next week!!
    Love, Mom
