We enjoyed such a busy but fantastic weekend. It was one of those jam-packed, live-your-life-to-the-fullest types of times that revolved around deciding what we wanted to do at the last minute, and then just going for it (sprinkled with a dash of laundry, a good dose of cooking and baking, and a little bit of fun with some extended family at the pumpkin patch– with more photos of that trip coming tomorrow).
I really noticed this weekend that the colors in our trees have suddenly popped. We celebrated by spending most of the weekend outdoors; I took the boys to breakfast by myself on Saturday while Andrew ran 21 miles (!) before we headed to the pumpkin patch to meet up with Andrew’s cousin and her newly-expanded family of five.
The boys were joyful as they played in the back yard and explored fall nature (again, more on that coming soon) and even discovered a full-grown praying mantis amidst our mums, most likely one from our egg sack last spring!
On Sunday we strolled down Cherokee Street enjoying warm sunshine and coffee and window shopping (we are always out too early for stores other than coffee shops to be open on Sundays). Then I took Emil consignment store shopping (we scored a winter coat for Milo, two sweaters, and a pair of boots for Oliver since his Blunnies already met a terrible demise this weekend when we realized that the sole of one boot had completely fallen off and was nowhere to be found)! Then Andrew took the big boys to a preschool event at a nearby playground while I stayed back, put Emil down for a nap, and cooked up a storm. The house was quiet for a couple of hours, and filled with delicious smells that wafted out through our open back door with the fall breeze. Just the perfect, perfect weekend.
We have really been enjoying just being together as a family. I feel like the luckiest, most loved lady in the world!
That really does sound lovely. And the photos are fantastic! I love weekends that combine nature, family, good food, and a little shopping. ๐
So sweet at the end there, it is wonderful to feel the love! Looks like a beautiful fall week-end. I am so impressed that Andrew is running a marathon, I have a friend that has done several and it’s a massive committment. Hope you have many more relaxing family week-ends on the horizon!
Beautiful weekend. I’m in love with Oliver’s hair! The weather keeps putting us off from apple picking and pumpkin patching but Craig has the day off tomorrow and my fingers are crossed for some outdoor fall fruit fun having.
love these colors! i have such trouble commenting here. here’s trying again… it sounds like a good weekend to me.
You take the prettiest photos! The colors are absolutely breathtaking! (And it looks like you had tons of fun too!) ๐
