Hanging with the Bum

Sorry for being blog-delinquent! I have been having a lot of trouble with my computer for the past four days, and it’s not allowing me to upload videos and some pictures. As soon as I figure out what the problem is, I have some very funny videos of Milo. Until then, please enjoy these pictures from last weekend. Andrew was out of town teaching an executive MBA class in San Francisco until Saturday night, but Sunday we spent the day with Cat and Garriy. We went to brunch, walked around Eastern Market, then hung out at Garriy and Cat’s, where we watched a peculiar Russian cartoon about a hedgehog in the fog. Very interesting, as you can see!

We are looking forward to a quiet Thanksgiving… just the three of us, then Friday my sister Krista and her husband Eric, and Milo’s cousin Charlie are coming to hang out for the day & spend the night. It will be great to have family around!

Milo is such a funny character now. He is such a social butterfly, and smiles all the time. Whenever we go anywhere, he waves and says “Hi!” to strangers with a big grin on his face. It’s so sweet to see him interact and just love people in general. This weekend, my friend Kathy came to visit from Philadelphia. Milo loved her instantly, and even cried when she went upstairs once! Poor little bum. He gets so attached to the pretty ladies.

Not much news to report. It’s been freezing cold here, so there is little fun to be had outside. I still try to take Milo out at least for a little while every day, but he won’t keep gloves on, and constantly pulls his hat off, so it’s a struggle to keep him warm enough! He is healing well, though. We just had a doctor’s appointment on Friday that took all of two seconds before the surgeon told us to be on our way, an hour drive back and forth for just a simple bandage removal that I could have done myself. Oh, well. I guess I would feel differently if there had been something wrong! The next surgery isn’t until after the new year, so we have some time to enjoy the holidays before that big fiasco again.

Oh, and we are thinking about renting our house out for the inauguration. Apparently, people are getting some pretty good offers for a three-day rental since all hotels are booked in an hour & 1/2 radius from DC. What do you think? Creepy, or a great way to make some easy money?

  1. EASY MONEY!!!
You can make some serious jack that weekend.
We’ll rent out our house to you for 1/2 of your profit…

  2. think of this way…would you pay 5 grand to stay in your house that weekend? (because that’s what you’re giving up!!!). I wish we could rent it out, but Cat is firmly in the creepy column. Also darn relatives coming in.

  3. Lauren! Thanks so much for the comment on my blog. It’s hard for people who have never worked in that environment to really appreciate what happens day in and day out. I completely agree that the smallest things can be so rewarding. I just have to try and remember this when I want to pull my hair out and run to the suburbs! Thanks again for the insight – do you think you’ll ever go back?

By the way, Milo is too cute, and I love following along on your blog!

  4. Perhaps if you run a background check, fumigate them as they walk into your house, lay down the house rules and take an inventory of your possessions, it might be fun… Just make sure you have the ‘hair catchers’ on your bathroom drains. HA!

  5. I think guests that are paying that much are about as creepy as guests that you would invite to your house. Just up your insurance. 😉
