Birthday boy, birthday suit
Emil spent his birthday doing the things he loves most: playing with his brothers, drinking milkie, and messin’ stuff up.
And his big brother Oliver took his job of carrot-shredding for Emil’s carrot cupcakes very seriously (don’t worry, I helped so he wouldn’t shred those little fingers)– might it have to do with the carrot tattoo?
Emil was quite pleased with the results!
Birthdays are funny.
We gave Emil his gift (a soft little boy doll) and then the big boys proceeded to terrorize it by throwing it around the house. Good modeling for fatherhood, right?
… Actually, Oliver was quite fond of him. Anyway, Happy First Birthday to you, Emil! It’s a wonder you’ve survived this long!
P.s.- I’ll try to get an outfit post up later this afternoon, so check back then!
What a great birthday! We should all be like Emil and do the stuff we love most on our special days…..(and eat those lovely cupcakes too.)
Happy birthday to your littlest! We made a carrot cake for my Peter’s 1st birthday last year and probably will this year as well. I don’t know why I kid myself into thinking it’s even the slightest bit nutritious.
Those little teeth!!!
Dude. Carrot cake is one of the most underrated cakes ever. I mean, any time you can put cream cheese frosting on something, it is magical. And it has the bonus of having vegetables & fruit in it. Rad.
I love how all three of your boys play together and seem to really love each other.
Your outfit and ballerina bun are spot on. Love it. And that teensy little toothy grin?! Happy birthday to an adorable boy!
Sweet sweet pics, what a lovely birthday he must have had! … love your house too – I wish mine look that tidy and organised!
Happy Birthday to your babe and happy day to you too, Momma!
haahahh! i can so relate to this post – tossing the doll around – telling the baby he’s lucky he’s lasted this long! We have so much in common. Too bad there are so many miles between us.
Happy birthday big boy!

Doll terrorization – sounds about right! So funny.
It looks like a wonderful first birthday for a sweet little boy!
Happy Birthday, Emil!

Jackson loves to look at your blog with me and his remark today was, “I want a carrot tattoo! Just like on that arm!” He is now obsessed, telling me how much he loves carrots (he does not) and insists that now he must have one…in the exact same spot on his arm. I guess now I will be in search of veggie tattoos! And, Happy Birthday to handsome Emil! I can’t believe how time flies. I miss you my friend!
That is too funny, Kathy! That Jackson deserves a carrot tattoo, I think!
Also, I miss you too. I hope you are well!
belated HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY to that cutie pie!!
