Dress That Mama: It’s Hot Outside

DSC_0010

It’s still summer. I’m coming to terms with that and not complaining again until it is the end of August, at which time I will complain one more time.

It has been really hot and humid. And we still leave the house every day because hello it’s summer and I have three very active little boys to engage every day with no preschool until mid-September. So we continue our weekly morning jaunts to the zoo, the playground, the Botanical Gardens, etc. And I must admit that not every day is a dress/skirt day. But when I throw on my trusty cut-off jean shorts, that’s still no excuse to completely slack off. Add more denim (!) with a vest, sunglasses, and a feather necklace, and I guess I can still look semi-put-together.

Sunglasses & necklace: Anthropologie (they no longer have either, but check their accessories– they are pretty amazing, I think)

Tank: JCrew

Denim vest: Banana Republic– last summer– find similar color here

Cut-off jean shorts: Homemade from thrifted 7 jeans

Also, forget make-up. The only thing I wear in the summer is moisturizer and lip gloss (but usually just chapstick). Occasionally I’ll throw on some mascara, but only if I’m meeting up with a friend.

Sandals: A steal at $15 from Steve Madden

Next week I shall attempt another Dress That Kid, but only as long as all three are willing to participate! Those boys are a real hoot.

  1. Love it- effortless! I wish I was comfortable in shorts. I think my legs aren’t long enough or something ’cause I always look dorky. It’s kind of amazing that you’ve had three boys (one not that long ago) btw… you are one fit mama!

  2. Hey there! I love your blog! I’m THE slowest checker of new blogs, but lemme tell ya, I’ll be coming back here for more. Looks like your garden has been abundant this summer. I totally salute anyone who can rock an awesome outfit and run a good garden.

  3. cute and simple oufit. I don’t know how hot is there but here (Italy) it’s umbearable. Somethimes I sweat in body parts i didn’t even know i have.

  4. Good looking Mama!
I have one pair of jean cutoffs that are so perfectly old, I wear them almost every day! Which means washing is infrequent. Ha.

    Love the sunglasses, you converted!

  5. We were totally vest/tank twins today! I love that look too. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect cut offs though.

    You look super cute!

  6. Love those sunglasses on you! They appeared a few posts ago w/a fab headband/scarf. Those boys must be the best workout- ever! (Andrew should frame this for his office. You put college girls to shame!)

  7. Aw, shucks! Thanks, ladies!

And Annie M.– yes, I am a bit of a sunglasses convert! I find that they help stave off migraines when it is super bright out! BUT I always take them off when I’m talking to someone new. 🙂
