Weekend Shenanigans

DSC_0073

This weekend we enjoyed some company from friends, did some yard work, and that about sums it up! It was nice to not have a whole lot on the old agenda. Plus, having friends over on Sundays always kicks the week off to a good start… and our house is clean, so Monday morning we wake up ready for adventures rather than chores!

The kids played in the water and we enjoyed some beer and sangria while Andrew grilled fish. Oliver found meaningful conversation with Ingrid before grabbing her boobs. You know, the whole act-interested-before-you-make-a-move bit.

But our outdoor fun had to be relocated indoors because of some sprinkles and thunder (which never really amounted to anything).

We made these awesome salmon sandwiches again. I will post the recipe later this week because yum. I salivate. And so will you.

And after we bargained with the kids to eat a minuscule amount of food, we allowed them to make their own cookie men, gingerbread-Christmas-cookie-style, only with cream cheese frosting and fruit as the decorations. They did such a great job, and ate every last piece of fruit!

The adults got mini fruit pizzas, but I think we were all disappointed that we didn’t get our own little cookie men to decorate.

“Will someone PLEASE scoot me in?!!!”

Then we headed back outside because the kids were literally running in circles screaming. Good thing the rain stayed away. Crikey.

Oliver and Georgia: rain boot pals.

Uphill cartwheel attempt. Gravity cannot stop this one.

There was a lot of hand-holding as well as lover’s quarrels.

And when we made it to the playground 9 hours later (just kidding, it’s just a block away), the shenanigans were many. Including this brilliant idea of jumping rope with Oliver holding one end while in a baby swing. It didn’t go so well.

… but who cares?

And now, the Monday after Milo’s last day of school for the summer… we are off to the zoo for a morning adventure! I am so looking forward to the many adventures we will have over the next few months! I love these boys more than they’ll ever know.
