Tasting

So, Emil is slowly getting the hang of this food stuff. But in a funny way. He does not prefer us to spoon-feed him, but obviously has a long way to go before he can spoon-feed himself. So, this nifty little gadget (gifted from sister-in-law Annie for Oliver two years ago) allows for chunks of food to be mashed up without the choking hazard. Oliver was never that into it. But Emil loved this thing! He goes to town on a chunk of apple. A wedge of banana. A big old piece of avocado (shown)- which is, no surprise, his favorite. And it’s kind of fun to stuff chunks of whatever in there for him to taste.

Bon appétit!

And the sad part? Emil chucked it from the train at the zoo on Saturday, so now is without his favorite food-masher thingy. Does anyone know what it’s called? Annie? Anyone?

  1. I had some of those and my kids wouldn’t use them! You can buy them anywhere- Target, etc. I think the brand is Munchkin.

  2. “Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder”… he’s so darn cute! A lot of kids we know used those to put frozen fruit in for teething and said it really helped. Wyatt was so late with teething and loved to be spoonfed so we never really tried it but it seems like a great idea. Hope he’s reunited soon!

  3. Audrey was the same way with those! She wanted so badly to eat solid foods, but needed to do it herself. The only issue we had with them was that we had to keep replacing them because she chewed so hard on the mesh that it frequently got holes.

And like Annie said, Target is where we got ours.

By the way, your spam protection feature is totally helping me brush up on my addition skills. Nice!

  4. I found another in my cupboard, Munchkin is the brand. While I have no memory of the purchase, Target seems to be a good bet…I spend about $100 there a week. I will send you this extra one directly!

  5. That thing looks awesome! And, can I just say, your kid is so goddamn cute! Love it.

And how do you like the Bumbo chair? I haven’t gotten one yet but am thinking about it….

  6. Thanks for the info, ladies! Apparently everyone knew what this thing was except me. I too am a Target addict, I guess I just hadn’t checked out the baby isles in a while!

Also, Annie K, if you aren’t planning to use yours anymore (ahem), I would love to take it off your hands!

And Briana, we are actually borrowing the Bumbo chair from neighbors, but I would not have bought one. We only use it now and then, and Emil isn’t that fond! Plus they take up a lot of space!
