Hartford Coffee Company

Hartford Coffee Company, located in Tower Grove Park in South City, is the perfect place to catch up with friends, particularly if you are a mom craving some sort of social connection in these isolating winter months. With beautiful picture windows, it is a light and airy place, even on the grayest gloomy winter day. In the spring and summer, the outside seating area is teeming with plants and greenery. In the winter, inside is the place to be.

My friend Ingrid introduced me to Hartford, as it is now in her neck of the woods since she and her family moved here last summer. It is, thankfully, kid-friendly. Aside from selling kid snacks, they also have a separate play area equipped with train table, beautiful wooden pay kitchen, a ride-on radio flyer car, and tons of discarded old toys to keep the youngins occupied for a couple of hours.

The front of the shop is great for those who’d rather not share their meal with grabby grubby hands. Electrical outlets built into the tables make nice work areas for those needing computer access… which is everyone these days.

There’s also a nice music scene, though I’ve never been. On Friday nights, Hartford boasts  an open-mic night, though you would most likely find me there on a Saturday enjoying some local folk music.

And you will find Emil sprawled out on the window seat, basking in what counts for sunshine during this time of the year… before he poops in his  my favorite pants and requires a costume change… but enough on that.

Our Georgie-girl

I am so thankful for places like this on days like these… but even more thankful for the people I meet here regularly. Ingrid and Georgia, you’re the best!

  1. You bought the Thief and Bandit pants! I bought Iris a headband around Christmas and am still waiting for it. Grrrrr. They look super cute on him.

  2. Yes, Annie! I got them for Emil. He has so little clothing of his own, and I loved the pattern! Can’t wait to see Iris in the headband! How cute.
