Music Monday

Broken Social Scene: Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl. A Canadian indie-rock band which uses grand orchestration in many of its songs, I enjoy the violins in particular in this song, but also really enjoy the piano in Lover’s Spit. And though the video is all kinds of messed up, I love the song Sweetest Kill.

Haley Bonar: Silver Zephyrs. I just love Haley’s music, and she’s been in my mind lately since I had the most amazing night out to dinner with Haley and Ingrid last week. She is an amazing person and just so talented- her voice gives me chills, and I can’t wait to hang out with her again!

The Head and the Heart: Honey Come Home (fyi- the actual singing starts at 0:55 in the above video). I’m sure Andrew has shared them here before, but I love this live version of this song, and just adore them in general. Their harmonies make me swoon. Hear/watch their full set on Seattle’s radio station KEXP here.

  1. Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old, always always reminds me of my sister who put that on my ipod when she was seventeen. Excited to hear more of Haley’s music, she sounds rad! Thanks for sharing. I love your excellent taste in music.

  2. Wait you are friends with Haley Bonar? We saw her open for Hayden in San Francisco years ago and I quickly bought all three (at the time) of her albums which I still love. But I’ve never since checked to see if she’s touring and putting out new albums. We all fell utterly in love with her, I remember, two of my brothers, my brither’s wife, and I. Now I can’t wait to check this out more! Thank you 🙂
