We had a great weekend filled with activities on Saturday and a whole lot of pajama time on Sunday (Andrew was the only one who left the house other than the 30 minutes the boys went out to play in the snow!). It was soooooo cold! But we had such a treat with our first snow of the season on Friday. Honestly, I just love snow. We stayed warm and toasty by the fire and ordered pizza, then on Saturday we went out to breakfast before choosing our Christmas tree (which always takes us all of 30 seconds- we’re just not that choosy).
On Sunday I won no Mom of the Year award- I kind of neglected the boys while spending the entire morning working on Christmas projects for gifts, only to have wasted 3 hours on a project that completely flopped. Ugh. But after a few choice words I got right back to work and had success late into the afternoon. Andrew did a mighty fine job keeping those boys occupied, and we listened to Shirley Temple sing I’m Gettin Nottin for Christmas nine million times- boy do our guys love her! We also had success taking our highly anticipated Christmas card photo* and I must say, though it is strange and borderline inappropriate, I LOVE it! We’ll see who stays friends with us after this doozy!
*I’ll be sure to share the photo and outtakes as soon as we’re sure everyone who’s getting a mail version gets it- wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise!
First, i’m pretty excited to see your vaguely inappropriate Christmas card. second, i love your black front door and your garland. and third, who plays the banjo? .
I want to be in the Christmas card mailing list! Jealous of your snow.. Our first has already come and gone. Now we just have mud!
I ALWAYS love getting your cards! Can’t wait to see what you guys came up with!
oohh, can’t wait to see the family portrait! strange and borderline appropriate are always acceptable (and always more fun) in my book.
also, your lads’ cheeks. they kill me every time.
can i come sit by your cozy fire?!
Rachel, thank you! Andrew plays the banjo- it was a hand-me-down from his mom. And Emily, YES! Come sit by our fire anytime!
Lauren – I just noticed your screen on your fireplace. We are quasi miserable not being able to start a fire until after bedtime. How does that screen work in keeping little ones safe? We currently have one of those old school ones with the glass doors that have to be open. We converted our kitchen fireplace to gas and are waiting for a similar screen to arrive – I wonder if we should have bought two.
Jamie, It works great! We also have a rule in our house that the boys must stay behind the brick hearth, and so far they are very respectful of fire!
I CANNOT wait for your card to come! It is always a favorite in our home!!!!
Yay for holiday fun and lazy days. We did a lot of the same on Sunday (but who knows when I’ll find the energy to post the pictures- you’re diligence is always inspiring).
And the Christmas card the Christmas card! I love your cards and can hardly wait for the big reveal!
*your not you’re
hate when I do that!
I cannot wait to see your card. I remember the ones you’ve posted from the past and they are always the best!
