Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend was one of extremes- temperatures, weather, moods, and drama at nighttime. I will refrain from complaining about the bipolar temperament of the weather, because I know everyone is experiencing much of the same from the midwest all the way through the east coast. But I will say that we knew how lucky we were to experience one beautiful day on Saturday, so just as last weekend, we spent one day basking in the warm(ish) sunshine. We even arrived at our playground merely minutes before some good friends arrived with their little girls. Needless to say, we spent the entire afternoon there!Β DSC_0032

I received such a nice surprise in the mail from my aunt (my late father’s sister); a small collection of photos and a valentine’s card from 1956 that my father made! It was so cool to see his childhood handwriting and hold this treasure in my hands.

Much of Friday afternoon was spent finally finding the light in our house and taking goofy pictures. Milo is becoming quite the budding photographer- he took the above photo in one shot!Β DSC_0019

DSC_0011We felt suspended in a snow globe, only with spring light coming through the windows. Really beautiful. And yes, I’m over it. But it was amazing, nonetheless. So the boys and I went outside, built snowmen, and played for a couple of hours while I shook the heavy snow off tree limbs bowing all the way to the ground before they broke and shoveled the sidewalk (which was covered in another inch of snow by the time I was finished… oh, well).DSC_0005

Anyway, being stuck inside is good for spring cleaning. If we had experienced an entire weekend of beautiful warm weather, the dirty laundry would still be dirty, I would have gotten absolutely none of the spring organizing and cleaning done, and I imagine I would be feeling slightly unproductive because of it. So, we’ll take it. Good days, bad days, outside and in days.

Happy Monday!

  1. We woke up to LOTS of snow on the ground this morning. I’m trying to trick my brain with this mantra…I LOVE snow in Spring. I LOVE snow I spring. I LOVE SNOW IN SPRING!!!!! Really.

  2. So we’re not the only ones getting this wacky weather!!! I’m never surprised when DC gets those REALLY late in the winter snow storms, but in spring?! The flowers are on the trees already for goodness sakes (which I’m about to post a pic of on the blog so you can see :)) Well, like you said, at least it’s good for spring cleaning and relaxing. I LOVE the pic Milo took. It looks like he’ll be a great photographer like his mom πŸ˜‰ That one of Emil looking out at the snow is beautiful too. I’ll stop there before I name all the pics in the post. haha. So sweet what your aunt sent you!

  3. Saturday was gorgeous here too, then BAM. We got seven inches of snow last night and it’s STILL coming down. I’ve got all these seed packets and tiny potatoes ready to plant just hanging out on my kitchen island and I’m beginning to suspect that I’ll never get to plant them.

  4. That snow looks absolutely beautiful! I love the photo with all 4 of you on the chair. You guys look so perfectly happy together! πŸ™‚ Warm weather is on it’s way (or at least that’s what I hear!)

  5. You guys are all crazy amounts of cute.
And so cool about the stuff your dad made. How thoughtful of your aunt to send those things.
Thirdly, your boys have fantastic pajamas, and now I am wanting lightning bolt and chevon jams.

  6. Your snow is actually so pretty! I hope we aren’t getting that storm… but still very pretty πŸ™‚ I love that the kids are getting into photography, and it looks like you guys enjoyed your week-end despite spending a chunk of it inside. Best pajamas around on those boys too.
