As the weather grows a bit cooler and the sun’s shadows grow longer, fall is upon us, and little boys’ imaginations begin to visit the place of super heros and super powers. October is still many weeks away, but it seems that all we talk about around here is Halloween and costumes and “bad guys” (that last part is all Oliver).
A small part of me fears that we have exposed Oliver too early to the makings of good guys and bad guys. A look of fear mixed with surprise often crosses his face as he runs into another room yelling, “Bad guy! Papa, bad guy in dere!” pointing to the living room, or under a bed, or in a closet, or a box, or wherever he expects a bad guy to be lurking.* And, should you care to play along and ask Oliver, “What should we doooo????” he will respond, “Shoot ’em.” Despite how many times I have replied, “No! We should call the police so they can take that bad guy to jail, don’t you think?”
To which he will reply, “No, Mom. Shoot ’em.”
*From where, might you ask, did this bad guy come? When I asked Oliver this question, he replied, “Target.” Yep. Who knew?
You can get anything at Target! Love them, they are too cute. Jackson is obsessed with dress-up too, although Frank makes me call it “superheros”
Oliver is hysterical and I love the costumes, especially the lovely soil cap 🙂
Sorry we missed wishing Milo a happy birthday, we did think of him, however. Soon we’ll be sending more fuel for the superhero fire your way…Knight Defenders of Justice style. Happy Birthday Milo!
This made me laugh out loud. I’m definitely going to avoid Target from now on.
