Out and About

Last weekend we ventured out as a family to meet friends at the annual International Festival in Tower Grove Park. The weather was hot, the food tasty, and the music and dancing kept our little ones happy. And with all the walking, running, dancing, and heat, we figured we would have two (or three) very tuckered out little boys in the hopes that they would actually nap for once this month. No such luck. But we did get our first family-of-five photo:

And things are going great! I alternate hourly between feeling like a completely competent parent and feeling totally overwhelmed and frustrated… which is exactly what I expected to happen. The thing with having three boys (or I suppose three kids of any gender) under the age of four is that one mama does not have enough arms to corral them all. Outings have been limited to small, fenced-in spaces for now. But I expect things to get easier as Milo returns to preschool and I become more agile on my feet! Right now I have a lot of help from Andrew and a sitter coming 3 afternoons a week. Going to the grocery store and cleaning and doing laundry is MUCH easier when you only have one babe to look after rather than 3.

In other news, my brother and his wife are expecting their second boy in January- which will make 7 boy cousins, 0 girl cousins on my side of the fam. Congratulations, Jon and Kelly! You will love seeing how close brothers can be! I am certainly embracing the boyness that is our household! Will post pics from an outing to Elephant Rocks and Milo’s upcoming 4th birthday soon!

  1. Lauren,

You look beautiful, as usual! I don’t know how you pull it off 6 days after childbirth! What a great family picture.

  2. What a gorgeous family photo! And you look like THAT 6 days after childbirth?! People must be assuming you’re the nanny and not the mommy 😉 Cutest little boys ever too! So wish we lived closer so I could get to know them more!
